Primary Program (Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten)
The Montessori classroom provides a specially prepared environment. Activities are self-correcting and encourage hands-on learning. The curriculum includes language, math, practical life, and sensorial activities. Music, art, science, and geography are also part of the classroom. Gym, library, and French classes are included weekly. Special programs and field trips are held throughout the year.
What this looks like in practice
Children work with materials that help them learn through doing. They may carry trays, pour water, sort objects, or trace letters. Teachers observe and guide, but children choose their activities. Lessons are repeated as needed. The classroom is set up with shelves, tables, and materials that are accessible to small hands. Children move freely and work at their own pace.
Children return home with a sense of accomplishment and confidence. They may show interest in numbers, letters, or new words. They may be more independent with tasks like dressing or cleaning up. They may ask questions about the world around them. These small steps build a foundation for learning and curiosity that continues at home.
