What is the MCDS Gala?

The Annual Gala and Auction is our largest fundraiser of the year. 100% of the proceeds will be used for classroom supplies, staff training, and building maintenance. Each year has a unique theme that influences the event’s schedule, decor, and menu. Live and silent auctions will take place, including classroom art projects made by students. Additional events like gaming tables, raffles, and photo booths are also featured.

What should I wear?

Dress according to the annual theme, which changes each year. For the 2020 Gala, the theme was a Clue-inspired Mystery Dinner. You might see guests dressed as characters from the game, such as Mrs. Peacock or Colonel Mustard. While formal to casual cocktail attire is common, comfort is encouraged. Wear what makes you feel at ease and enjoy the evening.

Where will I sit?

Your RSVP card will allow you to list friends you’d like to sit with. Families are often seated together based on shared classrooms. The evening is spent moving around, browsing auction items, and socializing with guests.

What are the items available for bid at the Gala?

Auction items vary annually, so you can be sure to find an eclectic and broad variety of items up for auction. The silent auction typically features donated items, such as gift baskets, restaurant and business gift certificates and accessories for the whole family.

What this looks like in practice

The Gala is an adults-only event that raises funds for the school. It features auctions, themed activities, and opportunities for socializing. Each year has a unique theme, and the event includes a variety of entertainment and food options.

The Gala supports the school’s mission by funding classroom supplies, staff training, and building improvements. These investments help create a better learning environment for students, which can be seen in the quality of education and resources available.
